London Youth Games

Message from The Queen

"I would like to thank you and the Members of Aussie Rules UK for your loyal greetings sent to The Queen on the occasion of your launch which is taking place at the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace on 3rd July.

Her Majesty was interested to learn that you will be using the game's novelty appeal and focus on participation and fun, to help address the needs of children. The Queen sends her best wishes to all those concerned for a most enjoyable and memorable event."

Aussie Rules was included as a demonstration sport in the London Youth Games on Sunday, 3 July 2005. Four teams competed for the right to hold aloft the inaugural 'Aussie Rules Cup.'

The competition took place at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The 4 competing teams were the Kangaroos, Lanfranc Lions, Carshalton Hawks and Carshalton Demons.

Aussie Rules UK would like to thank the London Youth Games, Sport England and the participating schools for their support of the event.
