Modified versions of Australian football have been developed by Aussie Rules UK to assist the growth and development of the game in the UK.
The reasons for developing a version of Aussie Rules that can be played on soccer and rugby fields is:
1. The lack of space in the UK is a major issue. Access to cricket fields is difficult. As soccer and rugby fields are in plentiful supply it makes sense to be able to utilise them.
2. Recruits can learn a new game whilst in surrounds they are comfortable with, therefore allowing for greater concentration on developing skills.
