Dragon Cup 2007
History was made on 3 November 2007 when the inaugural Dragon Cup took place in Cardiff.
The England Dragonslayers took on the Welsh Red Dragons in a pulsating and hard hitting international Aussie Rules clash.
The tone was set before the match with both teams singing their national anthems loud and proud, followed by a minute's silence for Welsh rugby legend Ray Gravell, who sadly passed away during the week.
Gravell was famous for the line "get your first tackle in early, even if it's late" and he would have been proud of the fierce tackling by the Red Dragons.
Led by captain Jack Wells, Wales were magificent and stunned the more experienced England team with the ferocity of their hardness at the ball. Played in great spirit, the match was very close at half time, before England pulled away in the final quarter. England's Mark Todd was to prove the difference, with his 5 goals earning him best on ground honours. Daniel Morgan-Kane was best afield for the Welsh.
Final scores: England 12.19 (91) d. Wales 9.7 (61)
