Under 16 League

The inaugural season of the ARUK Under-16 Junior League took place in 2008.

The basics of the competition are:

  • High school teams
  • Full-contact Australian football
  • Weekly competition
  • Boys aged 14-16
  • All jumpers, footballs, umpire uniforms etc. supplied
  • Children are taught how to run and administer the competition
  • Children are also trained to umpire (field, boundary & goal)
  • Best players are chosen to represent their country
  • Emphasis on increasing participation, creating player pathways & sustainability

The Aussie Rules Schools Sport Education program has been designed to shift the responsibilities of organising and managing a sport program to the children. This allows students to experience a more complete sporting program that allows them to do more than just play the game.

Amongst other benefits, the program enables students to develop self-confidence, optimism, high self-esteem, respect for others, and achievement of personal excellence.

The Under-16 Junior League was a fantastic and enjoyable experience for all involved, and we look forward to your involvement in 2009.
