Women's footy

The first ever women's Aussie Rules match in the UK was organised by Aussie Rules UK and was held in London on 21 April 2007 as part of the ANZAC Sports Challenge.

Women's footy returned to the same event a year later when the London Hawks took on Tara 'Ladies' Gaelic football team. Led by best on ground Nicole 'traitor' Borzatti, one of 3 Aussies playing for the Gaelic girls, Tara dominated the first half with their superior fitness and teamwork.

Fired up by a half-time speech by the supercoach, the Aussie girls tackled ferociously and managed to work their way back into the game with some great goals.

In the end it was not enough, with Tara scoring a well-deserved 32 to 15 victory. A great game played in great spirit - well done to all the girls. Football (and Tara) was the winner!

Final Scores
Tara Ladies 5.2 (32) d. London Hawks 2.3 (15)
Goals (Tara) - 3 Borzatti; 1 Doyle, McLaughlin
Goals (Hawks) - too hard to spell
Best (Tara) - Borzatti, Mclaughlin, Clarke
