UNDER-16 JUNIOR LEAGUE

Aussie Rules UK will be running an Under-16 junior competition in London in 2008. It will be known as the ARUK Under-16 Junior League.

The basics are:

5 high school teams
Full-contact Australian football
Weekly competition, commencing late April 2008
Boys aged 14-16
All jumpers, footballs, umpire uniforms etc. supplied
Children will be taught how to run and administer the competition
Children will also be trained to umpire (field, boundary & goal)
Double-headers each week
Bye team will supply umpires
Best players will be chosen to represent Great Britain at the 2008 International Cup in Melbourne, Australia
Emphasis on increasing participation, creating player pathways & sustainability

The Aussie Rules Schools Sport Education program has been designed to shift the responsibilities of organising and managing a sport program to the children. This allows students to experience a more complete sporting program that allows them to do more than just play the game.

Amongst other benefits, the program enables students to develop self-confidence, optimism, high self-esteem, respect for others, and achievement of personal excellence.

The Under-16 Junior League will be a fantastic and enjoyable experience for all involved, and we look forward to your involvement.
